Historical Note
The Melksop family, beginning with William de Melksop, a soldier who ‘held the manor through military service’, owned Digswell Farm in the 14th century.

By contrast, gentleman farmers John Sedley and Nicholas Hyde purchased the estate in 1599 from Ralph Horsey, son of George Horsey, who inherited from the Perients through marriage to John Perient’s descendant, Mary Perient.
